Orchrd is a plant collection management and marketplace platform built for plant collectors, from casual hobbyists growing a few houseplants to commercial sellers managing thousands of cultivars. We help collectors track, trade, and discover rare plants with confidence.

Our platform combines collection management, community discovery, and a trusted marketplace into a single tool purpose-built for the plant collecting community.
What We Offer
Collection Management
Track every plant in your collection with detailed observations, photos, trait data, and care logs. Record growth milestones, propagation events, and environmental conditions over time. Whether you grow figs, cacti, aroids, orchids, citrus, succulents, tomatoes, or any other plant group, Orchrd adapts to your collection.
Plant Discovery
Browse thousands of plant varieties contributed by the community. Our taxonomy database includes over 431,000 accepted plant taxa and 1.43 million searchable botanical names, covering scientific names, synonyms, and common names. Find exactly the variety you're looking for, whether by its accepted scientific name or a regional common name.
Marketplace
Buy and sell cuttings, potted plants, seeds, and more through individual seller storefronts. Every seller has their own shop page with listings, pricing variants, and inventory tracking. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.
Trading
Connect directly with other collectors to propose and complete plant trades. Our trading system tracks proposals, counteroffers, and completions with full provenance — so you always know where your plants came from.
Provenance Tracking
Every plant on Orchrd carries a chain-of-custody history. When plants are purchased, traded, or transferred, that lineage is recorded. This provenance data helps collectors verify the origins of rare cultivars and build trust within the community.
Our Approach to Plant Data
Plant naming is complex. The same plant can have multiple valid names — accepted scientific names, synonyms, trade names, and regional common names. Rather than enforcing a single “correct” name, Orchrd takes a soft-truth approach: we store all name claims and let the community surface alternatives. Names are pointers to identity, not declarations of absolute truth.
Our taxonomy backbone is sourced from authoritative botanical databases and continuously updated. When a taxon is reclassified, we preserve the historical identity while linking to the current accepted name — ensuring your collection records remain accurate even as botanical science evolves.
